The State Hospital Project is a digital transmedia educational project that uses oral histories and archival photographs to explore and preserve the history of Michigan’s State Hospitals for the mentally Ill and the developmentally disabled. This project seeks to educate about the way these groups were treated in the past, and by doing so, hopes to foster positive change for how these groups are viewed and treated in the present. Video content, Oral Histories, and Archival Photographs can be viewed via the website menu. While this project should be considered a resource for the public and for researchers (both professional and non-professional), all content on this website (images, videos, etc.) is subject to copyright and/or permissions and may not be reproduced or redistributed in any way without the expressed consent of rights holder.
